Sparx got hit!
The VA called today. Multiple times.
I was out of the house when they called the first time. But they left a message to call the VA. The person who answered took my name. Immediately put me on hold while I waited a few minutes, and then asked why I was calling (since my last name evidently wasn't pulling any thing up), when I told them that I had two stepsons in the Army, and gave them their last name. A Lance Corporal Munyoz then proceeded to tell me that Sparx had been driving a an armored Humvee and had been hit by an IED. He told me that Sparx had got bounced around inside the cab and had suffered a concussion, but had been treated and was released back to duty.
I promptly called the people I needed to get called, The_Rose and his real dad. I left a message with Garfield116 to let him know that his brother was fine. I waited until his younger brother and sister got home before I told them what happened.
I was really getting cranked up there before they told me that he was OK. I
knew this wasn't a good phone call.
I did get a call from Sparx today. He told me that it was actually three devices that went off, and that these devices were armor penetrating. His gunner lost a leg, and his commander got hit in the back, and got hit with some of the shrapnel. The commander will make a full recovery. He is of course still in shock. The explosions blew off all the doors. Sparx treated both the gunner and the commander, and saved both of their lives by acting as quickly as he did. Three hours passed before he actually got into some semblance of normalcy, and found out that he himself was OK. He doesn't remember a whole lot of those three hours.
He drove the vehicle back to an emergency check point.
His main complaint right now was that he didn't have a vehicle to drive, and he lost two good friends.
That's all the news I've got right now.
