Top 10 Signs of the Impending U.S. Police State

Is the U.S. becoming a police state? Here are the top 10 signs that it may well be the case.

1. The Internet Clampdown

2. "The Long War"

3. The USA PATRIOT Act

4. Prison Camps

5. Touchscreen Voting Machines

6. Signing Statements

7. Warrantless Wiretapping

8. Free Speech Zones

9. High-ranking Whistleblowers

10. The CIA Shakeup

I'm only listing the headings here. Read the article (the comments are interesting, especially by the <scary quotes>conservatives</scary quotes>

#1 has been trying to happen even before Bush. The SCOTUS has said no way each time. I don't see this changing, even with two Bush appointees.

#2 has also been going for some time, under the name of "The War on Drugs".

#3 and #4, well, thoose are new ones

#5 as if trying to stuff the ballot box was anything new. It's just a little more brazen here.

#6 is the mark of an idiot.

Taken all together, they are signs that really need to grab the attention of the US public. Trouble is, I don't think that Joe Average Six Pack is even taking an interest.
