Geico is a Snob? - ConsumeristGEICO was accused Monday of tying education and occupation to auto insurance rates, a policy that may discriminate against minorities and lower-income workers.
In a March 14 letter to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, the Consumer Federation of America (CFA) said “Geico’s methodology is reprehensible because not everyone has the opportunity or can afford to pursue a four-year college degree.”

<rant>I consider insurance, especially auto insurance to be a neccessary evil, but no less an evil. Due to a very bad experience with State Farm 30 years ago. (Maybe a blog entry about that later. Maybe not.) Maybe it's been the fact that every time I've had to deal with any auto insurance company since, it feels like pure sleaze. That's why I let The_Rose deal with that now.</rant>
It gets back to that old saw,
correlation does not imply causation. Having a ticket, or an accident I can see causuality. What my job is, what my credit score is? Not really.
