I'm flabbergasted. But not exactly speechless.
This was a pretty cool concept. Obviously, their MeetUp + just wasn't getting enough bucks in.
But $19? Per month? What in the hell are they smoking? $19/yr, and I might donate to get/keep a group going here. Since obviously it's not $19 for just slashdot.meetup.com, but for every city that has one. "small monthly Group Fee" my ass.
How was this decision made? We polled thousands of Organizers, met them in many cities, and listened to you online. We chose the path that keeps Meetup.com most focused on you.No wonder they have been hounding me about becoming an Organizer. I mean, just WTF is in it for the Organizers now? $228/yr is a bit much, unless you've got some corporate or charity backing.
