The Beam in Your Eye - If steroids are cheating, why isn't LASIK? By William Saletan:
A month ago, Mark McGwire was hauled before a congressional hearing and lambasted as a cheater for using a legal, performance-enhancing steroid precursor when he broke baseball's single-season home run record.
A week ago, Tiger Woods was celebrated for winning golf's biggest tournament, the Masters, with the help of superior vision he acquired through laser surgery.
What's the difference?
What
is the difference.
Damn, I need to be making some money so I can get my LASIK (Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomeleusis (KER-uh-toh-mih-LOO-sis) a method of removing tissue from the centre of the optical zone in the cornea.) done. Yeah, they're not 20/500 like I am (or whatever the heck I am (I can't see the big E at the top of the chart without my glasses/contacts), so I guess I'll be real happy with 20/20 vision. But they are talking about 20/15 down to 20/10. Cool!
